Driving Haskel MSB booster with shop compressor

I have an old 25 gallon Craftsman air compressor. I have taken really good care or it, and maintained it well. It is 150 psi, delivers about 6 scfm. I am considering using this to drive my Haskel MSB. The only problem is that it is oil lubricated. I have it connected with about 50ft of hose, then into a 10 micron filter, and then it would go into the Haskel. It seems that most people are again oil lubricated compressors for this, but I'd like to get others opinions and what would happen if I used it in this setup. Thanks

You'll need an air dryer of some sort, but thats an awful small compressor. I run mine off of a 60g 5hp 2stage, and its running hard. I also have a high quality IR air drier, and get clean dry (paint ready) air.

I'd never run my MiniSport using a shop air compressor. I always use diving air from 2 old 30l oxygen cylinders I have. Just get them topped-up at my LDS periodically.

I always run my MSB with a shop LP air compressor with an inline dryer. There is no issue using this and actually a bit of oil on the drive side helps lubricate things. There is no possible way for the HP O2 clean side getting contaminated by the LP drive air.

I have been using a Craftsman 25 gal 175 psi shop compressor to power my AG-30 for over 10 years. It's oil free and I have a basic drier as part of the feed to the compressor.

    It works great.

    Good luck!
