Of course, from batteryspace you can get lithium C cells with tabs.

I also use Sanyo Eneloop AA cells for primary, as a re rechargeable (NMH, low discharge)

I may be mistaken where I got mine from, as I couldnt find them on batteryspace, but I know you can find the 9000mah C cells with tabs. I did find them at all-battery.com

I got my lithium C cells at batteryspace.com then made my own jumpers and attached an old ISC molex connector from a previously used battery. Two 9,000 mAh C cells are a whole lot easier to wire up than AA sized cells and since lithium cells are 3.6V each you can't use more than 2 cells anyway. You might as well use C-sized.

The voltage does not drop as they are used up, so track your hours carefully. I put a piece of tape on the exterior of the battery box and knowing the hours of use based on my shearwater since that date have a good idea of their life remaining.

Or you can use a bullet proof solution easly available worldwide and that you can make at home for less than $5.

I would have a very difficult time describing any battery system held by springs as ever being bulletproof.

20$ you can get 2 9ah C cells, solder them in under a minute, and be rock solid and vibration/shock free.

My backup batteries are 9V alkalines, last forever in storage and actually clip into the wiring harness.

Electric tape makes them stay in place. Tell me where do you find 9ah C cells in the middle in Magascar or in a live aboard in the Galapagos.

I can only dream of diving with a Coelacanth! If nothing else I am grateful the 2.7 can take about 8 different batteries and work just great.
