    UK TekCamp

    Hello,

A friend of mine is the owner of a company that manufactures dive scooters ( http://www.divertug.com/ ) has been offered to attend this dive show called Tekcamp at UK to show his scooters.

    http://www.tekcamp.co.uk/

Here in Spain we do not know anything at all about this show, so he wonders if attending the show is a good idea. Any first hand info is welcome!

    Thanks,
    Andres

Yes have an ask on "the dive forum" you'll have more luck. I've not been but hear it's a good thing.

I covered the first few of years of TekCamp for Diver Magazine. Its a very good event for up and coming tec-divers and tec-curious and has developed a following of regular attendees. It also has a great social atmosphere.

For trade stands some manufacturers and shops are big supporters. I suspect its more a marketing and social thing than a direct sales opportunity, but you would need to ask the actual past exhibitors to get a better handle on that.

Not sure if the below is everything that got published. There may be more.

Tekcamp targets people actively seeking to do more technical diving....and has representatives from a broad spectrum of the diving instructor world. Its become a good place to go get a balanced opinion and with on site diving facilities you're likely to get good exposure.

Personally I cant abide dive shows, but i think the guys have done a good thing with tekcamp. If you wanted to get 'known' in the uk, you'd get instant exposure to reps from all the major training agencies and a reasonably large number of people who are actively looking at kit. I'd recommend it, if only for the beer ;)

Im not a fan of the crappy dive shows (LIDS, the dive show at NEC), but it might also be worth looking at Eurotek (which is possibly a better fit for someone wanting to meet the active "technical community").

ps. I have ZERO involvement with any of the things mentioned above and I dont receive any reward for my words (*cough* did I mention Im partial to kegs of cider?)

    Hi,

We organise TekCamp at Vobster Quay in the UK. We have not had any contact with divetug - any manufacturers wishing to exhibit products at TekCamp need to email tim@vobster.com.

This years event is in final preparations stage and is set to be very exciting - you can all find more details here.

    www.tekcamp.co.uk

Our aim is to provide an event where divers of all tech abilities can meet some of the top names in UK and international diving, hone skills, try new equipment and generally discover the 'Joy of Tech'.

    Cheers, Tim

    Hi Tim,

It is my understanding that the company has been invited by one of the training agencies going there, but as far as I know the final decision about attending has not been produced yet.

    Thanks,
    Andres

First really surprised that nobody knows about this show / mentoring event. I have attended two years and will be attending again this year. The event where leading instructor trainers from a large number of agencies mentor divers who are in the main technical. The divers are twin set or side mount or rebreather users. The instructors are using the same equipment as the divers, this lasts for a week and you can have two dives a day plus two lectures a day. It is a lot of fun and everybody's diving improves.
