My personal experience with getting bent...

On July 4, 2015 (as in a few months ago) I was down in north central Florida in the middle of MOD2 and full CCR Cave training on my rEvo.

I've done many high profile dives in terrible conditions and under high duress as the dive went all pear shaped. And I've luckily always been fine.

Not on July 4th. Not by a long shot. Rather than describe the event, I think it easier to share a YouTube link of the presentation I gave to my coworkers at the New England Aquarium a week or so ago.

After watching it, I'd be happy to answer any questions, as I feel theres some good information in there for us all...

Thanks for sharing! I got bend on the Roy A. Jodrey in August. Did a presentation similar to yours. I think that if we all share our experiences we will be better educated when these situations happens.

The common symptom is Denial. You don't want to believe your bent. There has to be another explanation. Even though in the back of your mind you know you are. That's an important message to be conveyed. The longer you deny the more damage is done. Make sure you have the right carrier and act fast. DAN is awesome but secondary insurance. Diveassure is primary insurance. Something to investigate!

My question is: do you now carry a non-rebreather mask with you everywhere you go?

LOL-well, I'm hoping this is a one time event. I had the PFO closed on Friday and am looking forward to hole free diving in the future...

    Thanks for sharing.

Going for a PFO checkup before I start my MOD1 as per Instructor request.

He got bent twice because of it.

Thanks for sharing your story. Hopefully some people will be saved for the same thing happening to them. Good luck diving again in the future
