    Aussies in the place ?

    Hello,

    I'm a french rebreather diver.
I'm planning some dive, using helium and Oxygen.
We are bringing all our filling equipment. All the connection to the booster, tank and compressor are in DIN.
We will buy the gaz in Tasmania.
What are the fittings in the industrial bottle for helium and oxygen ?
Are there adaptors to DIN ?

    Sincerely

    Tybo

    Hi Tybo,

Here in Australia (and Tasmania) medical grade oxygen utilises a pinindex outlet valve and helium usually a bullnose type 10 valve, yes adaptors are available.

Out of interest where in Tasmania do you plan on diving?

    Cheers
    James

The industrial O2 also uses bullnose fittings (same as He) and is pretty decent quality.

You can often get by threading DIN into the bullnose. It depends a lot on the particular valve whether you can get a seal at the end or not, but the threads are the same IIRC.

    thanks for the answers.

The type of adaptors should do the job so :
It's the one I use form Oxy in france.

@semaj : actually we are going to dive in Antarctica. But gas tanks come from Tasmania.

@captain starfish : you mean that industrial O2 and He has the same fitting ? cool !

    Sincerely

    Tybo

If you're buying the gas here in Tassie go to a company called Supagas, by far the most economical and trouble free people to deal with.

Lucky buggers, I think they gave up over here in WA. At least for helium.

Is it Supergas that do the "buy your own cylinder" deal or someone else?
