    UK to Truk : flights and baggage help

    Hi all, I'm off to Truk in Nov and need to figure out what the baggage costs are going to be.

    Looking around, the best price on flights is via Cheapoair in three legs:

    London -> Incheon (Korean Air)
    Incheon->Guam (Korean Air)
    Guam->Truk (United)

    My question is:

    given
    United charge $40 + $200 for bags two and three
    and
    Korean Air charge $130 + $200 for bags two and three

    What the heck to I pay for in terms of baggage?

    1) $330 + $240 ( once or twice? .. out and back )
    2) $660 + $240 ( once or twice? .. out and back )
    or
    3) $330 ( once or twice? .. out and back )

    Thanks!

    We are out in Nov also and maybe have the same flights

    What we understood is:

    Heathrow to Seoul - Korean Air 1st 23kg is free, 2nd 23kg is 70USD each way
    Seoul to Guam to Truk - United 1st and 2nd of 23kg each is free, 3rd is 200usd each way...

    Hand luggage is 12kg

    I hope this is correct as there are 11 of us!!!

    Jez,

    With mine, the second bag was $40 and the third wa $200. The first bag cost and check in bag weight are determined by ticket class.

    If you are booking online, the UA costs and weights are shown during the booking process. If you are using agent they will be able to tell you

    I was out to bikini last year via Tokyo and it seems variable. some of united's staff charged and some didn't. it seems to be every time you check in your bag so if you collect your bag in Guam you'll get hit again when you check in. whether you need to collect your bag depended on how long between flights. I seem to recall if it was over 12 hours between landing in Guam and flying on you had to collect your bag and then check it in again.

    I checked in two bags and got hit for $40 in Tokyo for the second bag, didn't collect bags in Guam, then got charged $20 in Kwaj for the return leg. some of us got charged and others with the same class of ticket didn't.
