    CCR in Gozo or Corsica

Hi, I'm contemplating a vacation on either Gozo or Corsica later this year and I'm trying to locate a rebreathe rfriendly dive centre on either island. I've dived both open circuit in the past, but finding a 'breather friendly centre is proving difficult.

    Any advice?

    CCR in Gozo or Corsica

I would avoid the Gozo area. I just read a report of three deaths in 2 different accidents in one day, bringing the total number to six for the year. Very sparse details at this time, but I personally wouldn't go until more was known.

Hi Ken, I checked on line there is nothing about rebreathers it sez the divers got into difficulties in rough seas.

There are some great dive sites around Gozo and Malta but it can get rough, most dive centres will find another site or call the dive but a lot of people dive independently without local knowledge and that can get you into trouble.

There are a few technical dive centres on Gozo and more on Malta a quick web search will give you a few to check out.

I know Maltaqua in St Paul's support rebreather diving and St Andrews Cove in Xlendi have started poseidon se7en courses so they should support other rebreather diving.

Atlantis diving center Gozo is rebreather friendly. They can provide sorb, oxygen and helium. Stages as well.
Super service and well equipped for technical diving.
About the accidents. They were all on oc. I read in the local newspaper that one diver had a medical issue. The two others were due to a fast ascend where one diver tried to stop the other, but both ended up at the surface. I don't think they were diving with a dive center.

How enormously irrational! Should I not go to New York because of the Subway is often busy?

Gozo has some excellent rebreather diving, our club has been several times, each time the local facilities become more CCR friendly. We had to obtain tanks and slime on Malta originally but I believe you can get everything on Gozo now. Last time there a pair of our rebreather divers combined 4 seperate local dive sites in one 3hour dive around the inland sea, blue hole, coral gardens and caves beyond.

Gozo is a great place for rebreather diving. We were there in October and based ourselves at Gozo Aquasports out of Marsalforn (Scuba Diving holidays in Gozo, Malta. Great European destination | Gozo Aquasports). They're perfectly set up to support any level of Rebreather diver and are a really friendly crowd as well.
