Pertaining to the question of stuff growing, here are my own procedures:

    - If the unit was put together and ready to dive and is dry, AND I'm going to dive in about a week or less, I just leave the unit ready to go. The loop is dry and sealed.
    - If the loop is damp or moist, then I disassemble and rinse as if I dove it. I store the sorb in airtight container in the packed scrubber bucket.
    - Between dives, Same as above.

I store my packed scrubber in those rubberized/nylon dry bags with the fold-over top and clips. Works for as long as I've needed, which as been over a month in a couple of cases.

Sorb is a caustic, life-hostile environment, at least for any of the bugs that cause us problems. I'm sure *something* might grow in caustic, but I doubt it's a concern in normal conditions.

Oh the other hand, a moist loop is a bug's playground. The sorb might not grow anything, but the counterlungs and hoses sure would.

Unused, it goes back in the keg. It's an industrial chemical not a holy artifact. A little bit used (jumped off the boat, lost your fin and called it quits) and a tiny bit wet, then you rubber band a baggie over the scrubber and use it within a month or so. Unless you are going long and deep, then I'd chuck it out on general principle. At least it's worked for me but no one accused me of being an expert.

Got that, but sometimes I keep a second scrubber packed, or may have a scrubber half used, but a tech dive next planned and need to stow it.

Do you have a dog? Milk bones come in a bulk plastic resealable container that fits a meg scrubber.

Just curious where you came up with "planet kolob"? interesting reference.

Remember - on day 15 it will spontaneously combust, so either use it before then or throw it out before midnight on day 14.
