    Galapagos 2015

Following the success of our first comprehensive rebreather trip to the Galapagos in 2013, we are now organising the next bi-annual trip for September 2015. These trips represent the pinnacle in aquatic interaction on closed circuit rebreathers in the Galapagos and offer unique encounters unavailable on open circuit scuba.

This amazing experience is now made available to a very limited and select group of divers. The Galapagos archipelago is a world famous hotspot for observing marine mega fauna, especially sharks. The use of rebreather technologies provides great opportunity for very close wildlife experiences in the islands.

In the Galapagos hundreds of hammerhead sharks and rays cruising overhead, while big schools of Galapagos sharks wonder very close, can be the fore playing scene for a bus sized whale shark to appear out of the blue…

This is a reason why many diving enthusiasts and underwater imaging specialists come every year. But very few of the regular tourists will ever have the opportunity to witness this world patrimony national park in its perfect silence. If the experience is amazing enough in Open Circuit imagine it with the bubble less and quiet and moist environment a rebreather provides.

From September 7th to 14th, 2015 a rebreather oriented expedition to the Galapagos Islands is being organized by PADI Course Directors and Technical Instructor Trainers Andy Phillips and Jorge A. Mahauad. The specialized trip is supported by Galapagos Rebreathers.

Organizers have chartered Humboldt Explorer, a 35 meter steel hulled licensed live-aboard vessel with capacity to accommodate 16 divers in 8 air-conditioned double occupancy cabins with private bath and showers. A comfortable dive deck and a camera table are available for all divers. Social areas include a partially covered sundeck with Jacuzzi, ample seating space and a salon including a lounge and dining area.

Galapagos Rebreathers will provide an expedition technician to operate boosters and deliver high pressure oxygen. Granular or pre-packed CO2 absorbent, on board steel 2 or 3 liter rebreather cylinders with in line style valves and 6 liter aluminum bailout cylinders with DIN convertible valves and stage / sidemount rigging will be available for all rebreather divers.

Thank you for your interest, we are getting a good number of divers wanting to come. Someone asked for references about the trip, googling Galapagos Rebreather should give you quite an amount of content. For third party content I suggest this trip report http://www.rebreatherworld.com/showthread.php?t=47352. Also our trip advisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...lapagos_I.html

    Re: Galapagos 2015

Unfortunately that trip is full now for a while now.

However, I am now also working to organize trips on board another vessel, motor Yacht NORTADA.

Nortada is the latest addition to the live-aboard fleet in Galapagos, has regular 7 night departures with itineraries to Wolf and Darwin for 8 guests, not 16 like other boats.

The small group setting creates a very special environment to our customers. *In addition to the benefits of running private charters in a very familiar environment, Nortada aims to offer unique benefits such as full rebreather and technical diving support and photo – video or other interest oriented departures.

Smaller groups for us mean that trips are easier to fill up. Having a small a group also makes supervision better and easier. We can work with up to 8 people but the optimal group size is 4. The minimum for a CCR departure is 2 divers using CCR.

Nortada also operates from Santa Cruz and Baltra which makes the logistics easier for us. I know this is not necessarily your case but, for people who are interested in land based CCR diving we have a choice of operators that can support diving with CCR’s.

On the other hand, and although we don’t recommend diving solo on a CCR (for us solo diving is also being the only CCR diver in a group), we can also work with any boat, live-aboard or land based operation given they accept to have CCRs on board (as you probably know this is not always the case in most places). We have also worked with Humboldt (for the trip in mention and a few others), Deep Blue (now Galapagos Master) and the former Buddy boats.

I have been talking to a few people who might be interested in joining another trip. I have one other in October and might open another one for you and another diver asking about this.

I will PM additional information about the trips on board Nortada. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. *

    Best Regards,

    Jorge

Spot Open for 2015 Galapagos CCR Trip!!!! Re: Galapagos 2015

    Folks!

I have a spot reserved on the below 2015 Galapagos CCR trip but I need someone to take it. Turns out I won another trip and don't have the vacation time to do both. I did this trip in 2013 and it's AWESOME! You can checkout the photos here. If you want to go contact me directly at my email and we can make arrangements. Andy and Jorge know about the situation and will transfer the name to the new lucky diver once you and I work out covering my deposit.

    Don't miss this opportunity!!!!

    Thanks
    Brad Wright
