Looking for 80kg of Sofnolime in Bali

    Hi All

I need supplied about 80kg of Sorb in Bali during August, prefer being able to pick it up in Denpasar or up the East Coast, best price so far is $15 per kg, I think that's just ridiculous.

I can ship it from Perth prior to the trip but really can't be arsed with 3rd world customs agents.

Any help and pricing would be appreciated

    Cheers
    Chriso

Somnotec is 1.2 MRp per 9 kgs in Jakarta (about$13/kg). You'd probably get a discount for 10 boxes. Don't know how much though.

But thats about what to expect in those countries :-( same price on the philippines, Fiji and its what I paid for Sofnolime on Bali and Komodo just recently and it was definitely not because of the dive center...

    Cheers

    Chris,

Can you explain with the Customs, What exactly does 1 need to ship Sorb aboard??

Do they hold it for a Long period?
and finally, do they charge through the roof, for letting it go?

Just really interested, as thats a S..t load of coin for Lime

    Any Advise, Welcome

    Clive
So far best price from Perth to Denpasar air freight is $600 for 80kg, so add the price of the sorb to purchase and there is no change out of a grand.

Might just sea freight a pallet to Denpasar and stick it in storage close to the airport.

I wouldn't worry about getting it out through Aus custom, your problem will be getting it in through Indonesian customs. Generally I believe you need to have a license to bring it in, also factor in tax and duties, which could be random...
As Mike said, Somnotec is the best bet as an official importer, and a few of the shops use them. Let us know if you want help sorting it

I just picked up a couple of boxes this afternoon. He has a hundred kgs in stock. His leadtime exSingapore is about two weeks to Jkt.

If you need a bucket load or regular supplies call him and ask about direct shipments Sing to Dps. Wouldn't surprise me if he already supplies the hospitals there. Gotta be easier and cheaper than a strange white face turning up to Bali Customs.

Sigit: +62 811 998328, sigit@somnotec.net (Dont forget to say that Mike and Dave are great guys and you should be giving them better prices....)

You do know that Bali is widely regarded as the worst port in Indonesia to import anything into.... I know many expats that have entered the country in Jkt and gone domestic to DPS just to avoid their freind in the brown shirts.

If you need any local assistance give Dave or I a PM

    Dave,

Read the Ministerial Decree. It clearly states that all taxes and charges are whatever the importer is willing and capable of paying. A line of tourists with a choice of sorb or no holiday will improve that willingness and capability.....

Yes you need a import license for the specific type of product this will also limit your choice of forwarders... They say its best to ship with DHL to avoid surprises of not getting it out of customs because the forwarder of your choice suddenly does not have one... DHL does have the most import licenses. Don't forget it's Asia be prepared for surprises...

Ask Marc Crane he has been living in Indonesia for quite some while and he sells 4.5kg sofnolime for 55€ without getting back much more than his expenses not talking about all the time and headache...
