Well but out of fairness you'd have to add that this is only valid for transactions within EU and in EUR..
Lastly also some banks still do charge international transfer fees within EU in EUR and the "free transfer" is only valid since a very short while.

For exchange rates: You can always bargain on exchange rates..
The higher the amount the higher the bargaining possibilities..
Sometimes it also helps to talk about future big amounts you intend to transfer and exchange.. You secure a good rate for that and then in fact you might never use it

I did my transaction through Citibank and just paid $10 as we have many big name banks here. They just follow the exchange rate of the day.

If a manufacturer accepts Paypal I'd very much think they pay for the costs involved, not the buyer. Certainly with those margins.

Their added bonus is they have the money in immediately, not a few days later.

problem is ofthen that the US based bank has no experience wiring money out of the country

in Europ it's so easy, and completely free of charge: just using the standardised system with IBAN and BIC

and why not CC? well your choice: 45 dollar, or 4% on the invoice total?
In Spain banks still charge a fixed percentage depending on the amount transferred, even when IBAN & BIC are used. I thought European law is this was supposed to be foc but no idea if national laws allow them.

No bank charges will be more than the 4% on invoice total for PayPal or even close.. for an average rEvo purchase. What difference if transaction gets few days later?...you still have to wait a couple months for your unit. 4% is big amount but like Paul said...your choice!

Joop, it is clear we always encourage the buyer to use the cheapest possible way

within Europe, and Euro, this is wiring directly to bank accounts

outside Europe, or non euro transactions, for small amounts, mostly paypal is the cheapest: from UK for say 100-200 euro to us, and 4%, this is by far the cheapest way

for the rest again, bigger non-euro transaction, wiring to bank account is again the cheapest

It's not free in the UK either. Plus banks are the worst ones for buying currency with their horrible spreads - even when it's free they will get their money back.
