    Optima Expedition Scrubber

In Dive Rite's new catalog they talk about about an Expedition Scrubber in the works that will give up to 6 hours. Does anyone have any details. I am wondering it is a new type of Extendair cartridge or a larger scrubber canister.

It is a bigger Extend Air Cartridge I am guessing. The Extend Air representative informed me that this was in the works. Is it on their web site? If not, would you post the link, please?

It's been in the works since before the first production model was released. I not sure if they have settled on which of several ways it can be done but it's not a big deal to do it.

    Re: Optima Expedition Scrubber

So, is the cartridge gonna be twice as long, twice a thick or a combination of both?
Will they use a cartridge already in production as in the original scrubber or will they be twice as expensive?

    Re: Optima Expedition Scrubber

OK, well--just talked w/ the bossman....

The U.S. military wants to totally get away from using granular scrubber material, so they are working with Micropore to make that happen (making a cartridge that gives ya more time). This will be adaptable to the Optima in time (we need to catch up on current production before even thinking about this). Trust me, we want it to happen because that way we'll be able to push Rose Sink exploration, among others! How much time? --- who knows!

So, yeah - Micropore is working on something to get, I'm gonna GUESS at least 6 hours of rated duration. By using the soft cover on the unit, there is all sorts of room for adapting, and it will happen in time.

    yo

I will be asking Lamar today when I see him. On a side note I am in the process of having a sofnolime adapter made for the Optima. It should be ready in May. When I have it I will post some pictures.
