Satori in action Map of Krupajsko Vrelo Cave Serbia

    Hi,

maby this is not the right place to post but, diving a pSCR unit we decided to post here.
The Triton dive team is exploring this cave a long time and we had some success with our exploration. We made some maps of this in Serbia well known cave and we are now shering it with the RW family. Our last dive on this location was to the end of our 2009 installed line to the depth of 123m. The Satori worked well. We are preperig a expedition to extend the line. This is the first of a serie of maps of caves in Serbia that we will publish. If anybody has a wish to dive this cave feel free to contact us and get the necessary informations.

You can find the map of the cave with some short story of the exploration done in this cave in the past at

    TRITON-AST

    Enjoy

    Interesting, thanks.
What's the penetration distance of the dive?

It is not long. Some 300m from the entrance. When you went to the first 3 rooms it is more or less down. There are some narrow parts so you have to find the way through the opening. With some 1-2m visibility it can be difficult sometime. There is some fine sediment on the horizontal stones. At the end you can pass all restriction with a pSCR and 2x20 and some stages .

Kurek posted here a footage from this cave some time ago. We dove together. It is a wide angle lens so it looks like good visibility ;)

We cut together some inserts from our film "Krupajsko Vrelo" and put them on YouTube. This is only a 5' insert out of a 40' film, and in this part there is not much diving but nevertheless I think you will like it. There is an English subtitle of course. The film was made in 2006. and got numerous awards on film festivals.

    All the best

    Interesting, thank you.
And how did you prepare rebreathers for the expedition?
Was replaced by a switch-block devices, or used the original Satori?

    Halo KIMDive

the Satoris are unmodified - original. Spherasor absorbent and modified DS4 Apeks 1. stages.
    We use the original switchblock.

Spherosorb worked well at this depth?
What modification you made in Apeks DS4 1st stage? Why?
How did you attach a cilinders to the unit? A frame or an original clips Satori?

This one? How does it work? Have you had any problems with it?

Spherasorb did not make any problems. The DS4 can give you freeflow at depths greater than 100-120m because of the IP increase. We reduced the IP to <8 bar, and will remove the DS chamber for even greater depths (or you can use some other 1. stage). We use a "DIR stile" configuration with a selfmade frame and manyfold. Breathing only stages and 2x12 back gas as deep backup.

And yes, we use the original swichblock (like the one
in the picture). The drawback is you can not isolate a single injector. But mostly, you get a problem with the first stage, and then bought injector will freelow. So no help...

We have, but do not use the Satori quick conectors for tank attachment. Sometimes, where the transport is a problem, like in long dry caves ending with a siphon, we carry the Satori like a single tank with a small wing on the back and supplay it with gas from a stage. Gives you plenty of time for cave survay, but you must take care of the distance so you have gas for OC bailout.

    Hope this helped a little,

    Regards
    Mirko
