    Ut-240

I was looking round the workshop and scratching my head as to how we managed to amass so much rebreather stuff!
Some things just seemed like a good idea at the time and others were opportunities we just couldnt turn down. Well, it seems we might have one of those for a lucky guy or girl out there.
We've decided to let one of the UT-240's go. As far as I know, there are only 5 in private hands.

I'll go through the box of stuff I have, but essentially its a full unit with spare scrubber (why on earth you would need one of those on a 6.5hr (@1.6ltr/min CO2) beast of this size?!?!), lungs, partial loop (no DSV) and loads and loads of other bits and peices. There is an original controller but not really a useable item so it would be perfect for a quick project.

Email me if you are serious, no tyre (tire!) kickers for a full rundown. I will be expecting sensible offers.

That unit is something else, some real artistry in the mechanical design... thanks for sharing some more pics Brent.

(I'm pretty sure whatever "sensible" is I don't have it and I rarely envy anyone but the next owner of this beauty is a lucky boy/girl )

PS- What is the dusty looking black material its made out of?

    Hi Ben,

Its more amazing in the flesh. The gas paths are truly fantastic, the hose cuffs are 35mm ID and all the other paths are 64mm ID. WOB must be non existent. The scrubber dimensions are textbookfor maximum efficiency(1 to 1) and were tested to 200m. The name UT-240 came from the scrubber endurance that was tested to 240mins at 1.8L/min CO2 (44RMV) with 4-8 mesh (dragersorb) to 0.005ATM.
With Sofno 797 at 1.6L/min your looking at 6.5hrs, which is more than 2.5x that of a Boris. Real world diving endurance must be ridiculous.
All the pipework is minimised. The high pressure lines are swagelok piped to the head to two pressure transducers for an electronic display for tank contents. The other swagelok pipe is to the solenoid to which I understand the Farmingtons can take a first stage failure.

The grey rubber is actually talc on normal convoluted hoses to keep them nice. If your asking what the main body of the UT-240 is made of, then I have no idea but it is cut/machined from a single lump.

The only drawbacks are that it is not lightweight by any stretch of the imagination and it needs a big battery to run the OEM electrickery.
But thats what happens when you make something bullet proof. No wonder they cost $15k new.

I've stuck a couple more pics that show the unusual loop configuration. Notice how easy it is to kit up with the loop chucked behind, and how neat it is without tee pieces.

Bet it would look nice next to a black CIS Lunar Mark-5P....

Be interesting to compare them side by side, as they were direct competition with each other.

Never would have happened... Before they became competitors CIS would have been in court as the CIS clearly is in violation of multiple points in Stuart's patent that was filed years before the CIS came into existence...
