    Re: Swedish wreck?

    Hi,
    In short,
It's recently been found by chance in the Stockholm archipelago as the divers were looking for another wreck from 1942.
The wreck is now beeing called the Lion wreck from the sculpture of a lion found on the rudder. She is of the same age as Vasa, 20 mtr in length, and is resting in about 40 mtr depth.
The site is protected from further diving at the moment, pending archeological research.

Personally I think she looks to be in about the same condition as the Vasa.

In short: 3 divers were looking for another wreck and found this from early 17th century. It's about 20 meters long and rests at 40 meters depth and it has a lion sculpture on the rudder. It will now be more carefully examined by archaeologists. And they are of course amazed by the discovery...

It doesn't say much about the condition of the wreck, but considering the age of the wreck you can see from the movie that it's in pretty good shape!

Wooden wrecks are preserved quite well in these waters. Salinity is low and water is always 4C at deeper depths.
