    CCR reliability

    Just curious.

Of the last 100 CCR dives you have (attempted) made, how many were missed or significantly delayed due to a technical issue with your unit?

Feel free to post the type of unit/type of issue.

2 dives in last 9 years ( a few thousand dives) .. both failed bubble check at start of dive but passed predive..

    Re: CCR reliability

It was on a dive trip last year. I calibrated the sensors of my Sport Kiss, we rigged up and headed for the dive site. When we got to the dive site, one of the sensors quit out on me about 1 min. before it was time to splash.

It would be interesting to know what machines are you using in order to know the reliability of the unit.....

    Re: CCR reliability

Had a batch of bad sensors from the old RBW Store, those sucky AI's. I would calibrate them the night before and within ten minutes into the dive the next day they were all over the place. I had to abort several dives because of this. I changed them out for the Teledyne sensors and haven't had a problem since.

2, and they had everything to do with crappy cells. Nothing to do with my CCR.

    Re: CCR reliability

Never once missed a dive on the KISS in i'd guess about 350hours

1 flood due to a split mouthpiece dive ended after an hour + on OC

1 partial flood reasion unknown dive ended on loop after two hours with increased breathing resistance bit no other issues.

1 Shearwater Fischer cable had to be replaced folowing an internal wire breakage. Dive finished in normal run time two cells on the wrist unit and three showing ok on the HUD

Issues with distorted diaghpragms on the ADV caused failed neg tests but no issues on actual dives.

Thest the sum total of CCR problems suffered on the KISS running a Shearwater display and HUD between 2006 and 2009

Its a truley stunning piece of equipmnet in terms of reliabuility.

    Re: CCR reliability

Once due to the bourdon tube letting go at the beginning of the dive on the O2 guage.
And once delayed due to the primary locking up and would not fire the solenoid, I guathered it was due to hte heat, I removed the head turned off the unit (apecs 2.01k) and turned it back on and it never occured again.
Twice called the dive early due to a stuck open solenoid due to dirt infusion.

    Re: CCR reliability

2 missed in total ... 1 due to 2 cell calibration error (ceiling prob.)
1 due hose rupture by fish hook (wrecked!!). no caustic..
    bailed out in time..
