This has Dsix, circa 1992, written all over it.

No, no, it belongs to a former member of my club, for whom twin-12s were barely sufficient for a 20 minute 30m excursion. The two BCDs have a dual purpose - redundancy in case he rips a corrugated hose off (yes, it happened and I had to rescue him) and to provide enough lift to balance his enormous weightbelt!

    Cheers,

What, no H-valve? This was JJ's first attempt at simplifying the gear configuration. Less bottles to deal with. In later iterations, the blue paint was scrapped for black paint, and then finally blasted clean. The Gavin scooter was developed directly from the need to push this early DIR rig through the water. Steerability was at a minimum, and the diver was just along for the ride.

Once GI developed deco on the fly and ratio deco, the need for such a large sidemount was no longer needed. GUE divers around the world were now able to exit the water in half the time that traditional VPM or BUHM computers would let them, and computers were dropped completely from their vocabulary. Now, double AL80s became the tank set of choice. On an interesting side note, instances of DCI jumped dramatically in cave country, but knowledge of this was mostly swept under the pile of bungied wings in the corner (dirty little secrect).

We do the same thing (sink Js to the habitat) by putting a bcd on them to get them neutral.

    Hello,

Maybe we should start a "World's Most Creative Story from a Photo" thread...
Paul's first law states that the safety of an activity is determined by how forgiving of mistakes the activity is.

Paul's second law states that the difference between an adventurer and an explorer is whether the doing or the learning comes first.

    Why only a single tank...

2 of those could be sidemounted, for some extra bottom-time!
