    OK I did it! There is a setting in the camera that automatically converts from HD to DV and iMovie is wanting a HD stream so then there is a conflict. I turned that feature off and bingo it works so all I have to do now it get the stills I want and I am done. Thanks for the help

    Since I dont know much about your video camera, I wanted to ask if it has a memory card that can be inserted into it?? I shoot with several HD video camera's, all of which have the memory card. With that I can capture a jpeg image on the card from the video.

    Yes it does, but I was hoping to get better resolution for taking it directly from the computer.
