Trip Report: 02/17/08 WPB with Hypnautical Charters

Went out with Capt. John of Hypnautical Charters today to shoot some pics. Didn't have very high hopes based on the wind, but it turned out to be a great day. Awesome visibility and hardly any current.

FYI - Hypnautical Charters (Hypnautical Dive Charters) is tech and rebreather friendly. Nice boat but unfortunately he has PVC tank holders that don't work with the footprint of CCRs, so we used the back deck. Worked OK...

Here are a couple quick pics...

Glad you were able to make it out today. Our trip to the Hydro, which was scheduled to go out this afternoon, ended up being canceled.

Nice pics - Thanks for sharing!

~90 feet. There are four ships pretty much in a line running from the south to the north. Lots of marine life (fish, turtles, sharks). Did a 100-minute dive playing around on all 4 wrecks.

    Hey Barney..
Dave Miner and I were diving up off WPB.....crappy vis. but flatter seas Sat, great vis. 70-80 ft, south current (east wind blowing the Current in, just doing shallow 50-60' fanny dunk stuff on the O2ptima's) but BOUNCY Sunday. Had a bull shark cruise by, all three common species of turtles, and a huge aggregation of Glasseye Snapper...maybe 150 or so, all out in the open in the daytime, probably spawning behavior.

Yeah, we jumped on the ANDE Saturday afternoon and hit the wreck, but the current was HOWLING! Visibility kinda sucked and we aborted the dive, but came in to the PRINCESS ANNE (where the visibility was better, current was maybe 1-1.5 there).
Sunday we did the Riverwalk wrecks and the PRINCESS ANNE again; we opted to stay shallow due to the sour forecast and already chunky seas. Did 100 minutes on all four Riverwalk wrecks - tons of fish, turtles, sharks (nurse, lemon, bull), and great vis. Then we did about 60 minutes on the P.A. and had maybe 60-70 foot of vis. More turtles and sharks. Had a blast!
I had to shoot on my old camera setup as my new housing has a leak from somewhere
