    New Kiss diver questions

    Hi All,
I've just purchased a Kiss rebreather second hand from Rob Driver in the states, Its a classic made in Nov 04, in spot on condition as well, thanks Rob. I've got the usual questions I suspect, cylinders? I was gonna go for Dumpy 3 ltr Heisers, anyone know of any suppliers in the uk that actually has got any or is bringing some in? If anyone's has got some second hand ones up for grabs that would be great also.

I've got a diverite classic wing and normal ss backplate with harness in a Dir stylee, shouldn't have too much greif there. Need to find out how to run things such as the handset cables(to stop them sticking miles out) and the HP hoses? The hp ports seem to be facing horizontally not pointing up the case as I imagined, does anyone use 90 degree fittings(never seen them)on these hoses to get them running up the case? Any other routing suggestions?

I've dived a YBOD for a couple of years so hopefully training and diving the Kiss shouldn't be too much of a problem I hope, just gotta get back in that back to basics mentality for a while, I'm looking forward to learning and diving it.

Any other helpful hints for a newbie would be greatly appriciated..

    Thanks
    John

    Hi John,

Even though you are an experienced YBOD diver I would strongly urge you to do a formal cross over course to the KISS. Assuming that you can dive one rebreather because you can dive a different one is a recipie for trouble.

I think if you ask Phi, or Gordon they can sign you up for the KISS list. It's full of info. with a large archive that can answer common as well as difficult questions related to your Classic.

The HP Oxygen side routing is a little goofy on my unit, but an HP elbow helped. Those dumpy cylinders do look good. I use AL 20 cu3 and some of us those pencil-thin 20 cu3 steel cylinders.

I have one dumpy 3L Heiser that I bought for a "project" modification for my YBOD, but it's not gonna happen now, so it's up for sale. It's in test, but not O2 clean, and I have a number of different valves I could fit depending on what you want. Make me a decent offer and it's yours.

I'll be around the south coast on Monday if you want to meet up.

The SOP is... You will need to sign and submit the waiver form to Jetsam, then Kim will inform me to invite you to the KISS list. I am just one of the lowly moderators for that list, so not my rule...

    cheers

You're being humble. :) Me thinks a bulk of the early KISS archives are your recommendations and mods.
