    Vitamin E - how safe?

I did a search on antioxidants and only came up with the RB's and cranberries thread which is nice and funny but nonconclusive.
When I got my HBO treatments they made me take a Vitamin E pill before each session in order to keep free radicals at bay.
So my question is: Is vitamin E in pill form safe to take before RB diving and is it worth the trouble?
    OK, that's two questions...being sneaky I guess.
    Thanks in advance,
    Tibby

    yo

Years back when doing agressive dive profiles I used to always take Vitamin E and guess if I would go back to them agressive profiles would do it again.

As I never toxed out on the profiles I could argue they helped but could say as well it worked like a maskot and either way I would have not toxed.

I do remember though that I always had very vivid dreams after taking a high dose of Vitamin E .. so you wanna dream big you may wanna try Vitamin E.

The one time I almost toxed out badly was when I sustained a bee sting right before the deep dive ... and went ... and almost did not come up.

    greetings
    Matt

I take a magic rock with me on every dive. It keeps sharks and O2 Hits at bay. I have done thousands of dives and have never had a shark attack or an O2 hit. It will probably work with free radicals and bubbles in your blood. Worth a try

    Tibby,

Vitamin E is one of the 4 lipid soluble vitamins (A,D,E,K) as such, it takes a while to get rid of any excess. It would be prudent not to exceed the recommended daily doses (should be on the label).

The only reference I was able to find specifically citing nutritional supplements being used by divers as a form of protection involved saturation divers and pulmonary toxicity. I found this in the Rubicon Foundation Repository, perhaps you may want to do more extensive search for information (I only looked at a few abstracts).

Here is the link to the one I refer to above:

    Rubicon Research Repository: Item 123456789/3629

    Dive safe,

    Celia

    Tibby,

If you are worried about the suppliments you are taking, you probably should lay off the "male enhancement" drugs you have been taking before the next big dive!

    Regards,
    Randy

    Randy,
Haven't you heard? Cialis and high PO2 work like a charm, but it's probably not as good as the manly sidemount caving I hear you've been doing lately.
    How's DEMA?
