I’ve got such a bargain for somebody! I dive out of a highly respected shop in the Norteast and they've decided to sell their Draeger Dolphin SCR. It's pristine and ready to dive. Here’s the description of the unit and items included with sale:

• Unit has been owned by a PADI 5 Star IDC shop for it's entire life. All service has been performed by Draeger, on time and at the specified intervals.
• Unit has black shell with normal use scratches that do not compromise integrity of unit.
• Unit includes BC with integrated weight pockets on shoulder and lower chest area, all hoses, hose weights, hose connectors, two breathing bags, Draeger mouthpiece.
• Unit includes Five dosage ports, 32%, 40%, 50% and 60% and pool dosage device.
• Two 50 cu. ft. ALuminum tanks w/ Draeger valves included.
• SCUBAPRO Air 2 power inflator with inflator hose and integrated regulator for BC inflation and loop bailout.
• One Draeger OxyGauge PPO2 monitoring unit and instruction booklet.
• Original Draeger case, grey with red lid and wheels.
• Asking price is $4000.00.

Their best bet is to sell it on Ebay or to solicit request for what people would realistically pay for the unit who are serious buyers.


On Ebay I have seen units in excellent condition sell for $3000.00 if you get some people in a bidding war over an item that is not always the case sometimes it can go for a lot less. However, most people are buying these units new for $3500.00 (or less) that includes tanks and usually three jets and the standard testing equipment (flow meter and such.) So four grand is not realistic for the current market and that is why you caught a lot of flack.

The PADI IDC 5 star comment probably did more damage than you know. This is a technical group for all considerations and the name PADI did not help your cause.

If they are selling the unit with the oxygauge that is a nice touch with the Air2 unit. However, most of us will not dive a rig like this without some sort of PPo2 gauge. I can see the owner asking $2500.00 for all the parts and goodies, and probably getting $2000.00.

Recent changes in the market are going to make selling units like this harder when people are buying used Closed circuit units in the same price range. Ultimately, that is the monster that you are facing.
