Sentinel LSS - Trip Report

Hi Guy's

For those interested in the Sentinel LSS from CCRB I have just arrived aboard the MY Tranquillity one of the Emperor Fleet dive boats for a weeks diving and instruction on how to use the unit.

Here is a link to the dive boat;

http://www.emperordivers.com/liveabo...anquillity.php

I do hope to post a daily trip report depending on my mobile connect signal and our location currently we are in Sharm El Sheik, Red Sea, Egypt and I left the house Saturday morning at 5am so it's a long enough trip.

I have to say Thompson Fly did not bat an eyelid at my 2 x 35Kg dive bags and one 10kg carry-on (laptop. camera's etc) and the flight was very fine taking about 4.5 hours from London, Gatwick you will see from the picture below some some had a bit of a snooze (Simon Butler) we also met up with Peter McClenaghan from Belfast who is doing his MOD 1 cert so it will be interesting to see how he gets on with the Sentinel LSS as his first CCR unit.

Kevin Gurr, Phil Short and Al Wright are the IT guy's from CCRB and I can certainly ask any questions you may have during the coming week because let's face it if they do not know who would..

Hi Jerome,

Just did this in my garage, (where my Sentinel is sitting awaiting my training in 2 weeks) the camera is crap though so you'll have to make do with it.

Cheers,

Dave.

Re: Sentinel LSS - Trip Report

Thanks for that shot Dave.

Just curious, that's a shot of the oxygen side? The shut-off is on the intake side or the output side? And where does the third hose go to?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Tom,

Yes that's the oxygen side.

I guess the shut off will feed the Solenoid, one hose from first stage to Manual add and second hose for off-board, I guess.

Will not know more until I do my course and to be quite honest, apart from sorting out the harness etc I will be leaving it alone.

I have often heard various people say that if you are trained and have a good knowledge of CCR then you should be able to teach yourself a unit. DrMike has always argued against this and I have always agreed with him, both the Ouroboros and the Sentinel are complex units. They require proper training and instruction, so I am looking forward to my time with Al, I'll certainly be getting my money's worth out of him.

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

I'm the third supporting this theory!

Re: Sentinel LSS - Trip Report

Guys Best of luck with the new toy!! I'm very interested in hearing how your trim is. The counter lung behind your head makes me wonder.

Dave

1)Do all the hoses come plastic coated?
Is that cover crimped into the brass sleeve or is it just slid over the whole hose?
2) Could you bring your Sentinel to the States in April??

Again Best or luck guys ....I wish I was there playing with your new toy :-)

Cheers Frankie
