![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Sentinel LSS - Trip Report Just a few brief words for now, How did everyone else get onAfter a week on the first Sentinel course i have passed my Mod 1. The instructors in the water for us newbies were:- Greg Such, Phil Short, Phil Sudan, These three guys were outstanding, i never had an uncomfortable moment at all. Onboard all the instructors under training were also great during lectures. Kevin, Al and Phil from CCRB had always an answer for all questions no matter how stupid, and they also listened to our comments and suggestions. The unit never missed a dive all week for anyone. Judging by the reaction of most people on the boat it was well recieved and well built, there was a few minor problems which Kevin had his people on by the third day. Never having dived another rebreather i cant compare, but i can say in my opinion i did spend my money very very well Now i must go and clean the unit down and get ready for the coming weekend in the shallows. ![]()

![]() | Re: Sentinel LSS - Trip Report How did everyone else get on ![]() The 5 in my group all really liked the unit, again we cant really compare as we were all new, but we were told that we took to it quicker than most ! Trim wise i was using a 7mm wetsuit and 2kg in each side and 2 kg in the pocket and by 4th dive was holding stops in horizontal and vertical positions at 6m without any problems, Most others on the course after a few days were starting to like the unit, i think there was two who werent all that fussed but then you can please all of the people all of the time. |

![]() | Re: Sentinel LSS - Trip Report the breathing gas that has been expired travels into the head of the unit where the Oxygen is added and it passes through the scrubber from top to bottom and returns back up the outside of the scrubber canister and past the sensors to be re breathed. So if you get some water in to the mouth piece/exhale hose you can’t blow that out though the overpressure valve? It goes straight in to the scrubber? Have I got it right, that the breather is not Flood recoverable?

From my understanding of the layout I saw at BTS, you're correct that the water goes through the scrubber before it gets to the OPV. I think the theory is that the water is auto-purged whenever you're verticle or near verticle, but I don't know what this implies for full/partial flood recovery. |

Yes it is so.I think the theory is that the water is auto-purged whenever you're verticle or near verticle, but I don't know what this implies for full/partial flood recovery. The scrubber is so efficient that will dry in a moment.Just the top of the scrubber will be touched, part that is also the first to be used so not really a matter. Nad

It would be nice if CCRB posted the manual online so we could start really understanding the device, its intended manner of operation, and its limitations. The scrubber is so efficient that will dry in a moment.Just the top of the scrubber will be touched, part that is also the first to be used so not really a matter. I am really curious to see how the hoses route around the head (specially after seeing the pics that were posted of the Sentinel a few weeks ago). There you go, our unit cam with one set of hose weight, I think we need 2 per side. Kev, Phil & Al had 2 per side... We can see that Simon twisted his hose (bottom picture) so that the routing is different... a little loop at the back and then closer to the shoulder. Something to try! Overall a very good unit and trim is easy to achieve!
