I was talking to Phil Short at DEMA who is one of the associated CCRB instructors who has had some diving on it. I think he is away at the moment diving but maybe Al Wright (CCRB) may be able to add something he often visits the Rebreather World Forum.Did you have something specific to ask or is it just general interest, from what I can remember from DEMA Phil spoke very highly of the unit and how it operated and also felt in the water although he has limited hours up at the moment obviously. I have ordered one but it will be March 2008 until I can get it wet and that will be in the testing conditions of the Red Sea......... ![]()

I've already talked to Al (damn nice guy and very helpful) but I'm guessin he's likely a tad biased seeing as how he works for the company and all. Just looking forward to hearing more specifics about the unit and how it compares to the 'Boris and other high calibre Rebreather's. From the few pictures out it looks alarmingly like a YBOD, just in black, with an exceptionally ugly BOV (not slammin the unit, they already have my deposit). ![]() |

Yea, they have my deposit too and I agree there is a bit of a leap of faith with a new unit but I think the build quality is evident and the lessons CCRB have learned from developing the Boris have put the Sentinel in a good position from day one, I believe about 55 units have been sold since the Birmingham Dive Show in October. Although I am encouraged to see a CCR unit being launched at a Dive Show that is already properly tested and proven to exceed the current standards so round one to Kevin Gurr and his staff now lets see how well they can build on that success................ ![]()

There were a few niggles but as this was the prototype it was to be expected. The WOB is very good for a single back mounted counterlung, so much so that you do not even know you are breathing. Once the final adjustments are made to the production model it will be one of the better ones out there. Aaron. |

Their after sales service on the Ouroboros has been second to none.Cheers, Dave Cooper.

In which case the pictures don't do it justice... ![]() I took a good look at it in Birmingham and can tell you the build quality and design are along way from the Inspiration. As someone who wasn't that impressed by the Boris I can tell you that the Sential is the nicest built ECCR I've had a chance to poke around inside of, the scrubber is well built with lots of insulation (probably leading to the superb endurance?) and the BOV (while big and ugly) is smooth as silk to turn. Lastly the displays are a real treat, I might not have liked the GUI (too complex IMO) but the hardware was just beautiful. I've not once been tempted by an ECCR yet but this was the closest I've come ![]() |

Granted the Ouroboros after sales service appears to have been excellent but with the more affordable Sentinel there will be many more units in the field and that presents a challenge to CCRB to maintain that high level of after sales service. I do think they are more than up to the task and that is one of the reasons I have ordered a Sentinel and I am looking forward to the Red Sea trip next March to get it wet.
