Personally, I'm confident that Kev knows what he's doing however and am sure it'll be good in the water. Does it have shut offs like the Boris? I'm presuming not from the photos and layout which is a shame.

Cheers

As per my write up there is an extendable foot (not shown on protype) tha tyou set to the height you want. I think shutoffs will be on level3.

Re: Photos of Sentinel Rebreather

The depth of the unit looks a little too much, given it seems to do with the size of the scubber it will be hard to remedy without reducing capicity....There seems to be a lid too so it must be like wearing a small house (think Boris prototype).

One thing that gets me though is after hearing so many comments on CCRB's dislike of OC/DSV's (all eggs in one basic theory) it surprises me that one takes pride of place on the Sentinel, and to make it worse its huge, that will give you seroius jaw ache.

Nice hand sets, hop ethey are as bullet proof as the originals...

Rgds

Re: Photos of Sentinel Rebreather

Ohhhhhh what a fickle bunch we are... We want as much information as possible as quickly as possible and then quickly jump the gun when it's said "this is only a prototype".... Couple observations from my side....

1) Glad to see a unit with scrubber options that is being designed that way from the start! MicroPore, Sorb etc

2) Nice to see Kevin addressing the BOV issue. I am sure that it will be a quality unit once finalized.

3) BMCL - Great to see a new unit out there with then designed from the start.

4) New electronics footprint looks great...

5) Great to see all of the above in one package!!!

For those of you that have seen some of the early pictures prototype pictures of the Boris, you will remember that Kevin did a fair amount of tweaking until releasing the final product. I would expect the same with this new rig.

Dive Safe...

Also shows where you recharge the lithium batteries - currently this is a fischer but this will change.

So, uhhh..... on a multiday boat trip, I either need to bring the rig inside the cabin to charge it, or run an extension cord outside (into the salty-rain)? Or un-wrangle all of the attached cords and drag the electronics pod into the cabin to charge?

I must be missing something here....

But, as Mark so well points out, it's a prototype, so all bets are off.

Good point, I'm SURE it'll be detachable in some way, or maybe it comes with a Solar cell charger (for those zero carbon footprint types)

DId I miss something....why are the cylinders different sizes and not balanced with eachother? I'ma go back and read the write-up again. Thank you for the pictures. It's nice to see folks out there trying to come up with the next best thing.

Mark

Fickle....you mean constructive critism....

AP Diving too spent a long while developing the Evolution but avoided showing prototypes, probably thinking "critisise this and not the one I didn't make".

I know the Boris well and respect its qaulity of construction (still hate the hose locking rings though) and well thought out design.

I am sure Mr. Kevin has thick enough skin to bear a few non positive comments, I still would like to see if the OC/DSV appears on the Sentinel's big brother, it would be a bit of a turn around IMO....

You tend to need more dil than O2, the bottle size won't affect your position much and if it did then shift the weight around on your belt :-)

No need Dave if the batteries are the same as in my ouroboros pod no need to worry just returned from 2 channel dives over 3 days and batteries showed no signs of needing recharging.
