With one unit on each side, one CL on each side, you'd have an awful lot of sand in the hourglass. But then where to put the gas? Maybe some Inconels somehow mounted in the slip stream under the scrubber can... Anybody have any experience with single CL units? How well do they breathe? |

Maybe some Inconels somehow mounted in the slip stream under the scrubber can... The scrubber duration is the same I believe, The WOB depends very much on where the lungs are - just behind your lungs Kevin told me it easily passes the CE testing and as is better than some of the OTS units. Side mounted I suspect it would be shite!Anybody have any experience with single CL units? How well do they breathe?

| Who loves ya, baby ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: If you want to sidemount a single unit just stick with o-t-s lungs. As was done with the PRISM in the pic below (from SMI's website). ![]() Tanks are MK spheres mounted underneath the unit I believe. For two RBs I'd probably give a second pair of rearmounted lungs a shot. ![]() The Shadow Pack CLs are the same as SMI's, but without the ADV and manual O2 add valve openings and should work well. Or a design like the Joker if you can manage to mount the CL next to our own lungs. But back to the Sentinel, I find it curious that C2R reversed the gas path they used on the Ouroboros. Wonder why they did that. Seems that other manufacturers that want(ed) to cater to the military market all went with the counterclockwise flow. Not that it did much good for them ... Also, the choice of the 6 lbs cartridge has me a bit baffled. While the longer duration may well be worth it, those cartridges will be even harder to come by on a trip. The Optima's 5 lbs cartridge is just starting to become available at trip destinations, and that unit has some good sales to show for. The new displays look good though. Any word if they'll filter down to the Ouroboros, URM and VR3?

As it takes Sorb as well I guess Kev was not too bothered about availability as where ever you go you can get sorb!

Like every other company, MicroPore is constantly working to evolve their products to the next level. As it takes Sorb as well I guess Kev was not too bothered about availability as where ever you go you can get sorb! Side mounted I suspect it would be shite! Well, I guess if he says so. But it doesn't make sense that it would have the same manned test duration with only 1 lung as with 2, otherwise, everybody would be doing the 1 lung thing, wouldn't they? 2 lungs supposedly brings down the drive pressure to move the gas around the loop, hence the longer dwell time. I would also imagine that less dwell time would increase the chance of a CO2 hit from overbreathing. As for the sidemount thing, I was imagining the lung placed as normal on the back or chest, with only the head/scrubber on the sides, which according to a side mount diver I know, shouldn't affect the hydrostatic head at all. But you never know until you try it... |

I knew I'd seen that somewhere before, wink wink, nudge nudge. But if the single CL doesn't turn out to be too much of a compromise in scrubber performance, 1 unit, 1 lung on each side would be a very neat and tiddy system... |
