Is Draeger really stopping production?

Hello all,
I heard a rumor that Draeger has stopped production and is no longer going to sell the Dolphin. Can anyone confirm this? While I've heard that rumor each year for some time now, this one had more credability then most.

Thanks,

There was a post about this about a week or two ago. I believe that the rumor was that Aqualung may stop distributing the Dolphin, but Dräger would continue to produce the Dolphin. I looked on both the Dräger web site and the Aqualung site, and I didn't see any official mention of this either way.

Thanks,
Scubanimal-
Spoke with a local dive shop owner. He told me that a recent trade show event that, while he was there, he was propositioned to take over Aqualung's Distributorship.

FWIW: Aqualung is going to stop selling them, sooner or later, but it seems as though Drager will not stop making them. Since Tecme and W+S are still selling parts, safe to assume that it will be possible to get what you need. Not to mention that the Dolphin parts have other uses on other machines, I would not expect the project to go south anytime soon. Also, best selling Rebreather (by number - please keep the flames to a minimum), not in Drager's best interest to stop making it.

Just my 2 cents.

Re: Is Draeger really stopping production?

Thanks guys,
That makes more sense, I knew Aqualung was not selling many and were iffy in continuing to market them.

I'm thinking of selling mine but did not want to mislead anyone.

thanks,
Ian

Reply from Apeks.

Hi David,
As far as we are aware Drager are not ceasing production of the Dolphin and we haven’t heard any rumours.

Re: Is Draeger really stopping production?

I spoke with my LDS and our Dräger expert told me, that the reason that Aqualung is discontinuing carrying the Dräger Dolphin, is that they are going to be releasing their own rebreather under one of the Aqualung brands. I was told that they would be able to get parts through Aqualung through the end of the year, but he wasn't sure beyond that point.
