Azimuth AF

Hello everybody

I'm trying to know as much as possible about this REB. This is the version for high depth (AF Alto fondale in italian) with possibility of using trimix and heliox mix.

Does someone use it?

In case i'll be very interested in knowing the experience of practical users of this machine. Producers always say thir REB is the world top Also interesting would be compare it to others SCR

Thanks in advance for any information

Re: Azimuth AF

Hello,

I explored this rebreather a bit and converted a normal Azimuth and a half into an Azimuth AF rebreather -- although without the larger tanks. I dove it a few times. It really just takes another gas block, hoses, and manifolds for the conversion. There isn't much else that's different.

Overall it worked great and exactly as I predicted and computer modeled. It could provided quite a bit of flexibility. With the right mixes, O2 monitoring, solid understanding of the principles and procedures involved it could be flown in a variety of low-flow modes and have some methods that are half-way between a CCR and an SCR (i.e. with a high O2 bottle and a low-O2 for a diluent). You can adjust your diving to the dive profile and gases available. With 15 minutes it could be flying back as a normal Azimuth.

It was a fun experiment and I learned quite a bit in researching, modeling, and putting it together.

Re: Azimuth AF

Yes. That's right... but... you must be SANSON to dive with that machine.

I saw once one and tried to take it with one hand. I couldn't even move it.

Good luck with your back.
