A low tech soulution is to use a Nitek HE with an Oxyguage.

Before the dive you figure out the range of possible ppO2s based on the expected depths and program O2%s into the seven availble slots.

Then as you dive you just scrool through the mixes until you hit the one closest to your current PO2.

I have used that system as a back up for my Evolution and it works pretty well.

This reply was for Othman, I think I posted in the wrong thread. Oops, FD.

As others have stated many times, diving without a way to monitor your PO2 is risky and can be dangerous. You definitely are right to get one quickly. Just wanted to chime in on the issue.....The Oxyguage is finicky and prone to flooding. Besides being way overpriced, it's all but obsolete. The VR3 set up is really nice and can be expanded for future modes, but it is not cheap, and it is a wired computer. The Oxy2/Air Z combo is quite old, as technology goes, but you can still pick them up on Rebreather World for a reasonable price. The plus of the Oxy2/ Air Z is that it was specifically designed for use with the Dolphin and it's a wireless system. Down side is it's 10+ year old technology and is not upgradable or expandable for CCR. If you plan on going to CCR you may want to save your pennies and get a system that will work for your long term plans, even if it costs a little more. If you plan on going SCR for a while, I think you'll be happy with the Oxy2/Air Z. Mine works very well and has given me no trouble at all. Find an Air Z O2, though, not an Air X O2. The batteries are not servicable on a Air X. Check my older posts for some good info on the Air Z/ Air X delima. Hope this helps you, and be safe. FD
