Oh Phi and you said you were so happy with yours too ;-)![]() I was going to buy an EDO-04 in 2004 but managed to have a go on one first. I thought it was fairly well made I just didn't like the practicalities of diving a PSCR. I think the engineering is so much better than the concept. I bought a KISS instead... not that I'm smug or anything now...

I had to sell it to buy the Sport-KISS, otherwise I would still have it.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: EDO 04 Breakdown Quote: (Originally Posted by decoweenie) Yes, I was. Still have mine because i dive most of the time in big caves with scooter and the EDO 04 or Rebreather 80 are really made for that. However you forgot that I didn't dived it in SCR mode except for one to test, then I closed the loop from the second dive on. I had to sell it to buy the Sport-KISS, otherwise I would still have it. You just have too choose and change your gas and listen to your bubbles to be safe Dove in SCR mode to 100 m with héliox and had no problem with WOB but the ascent is always difficult for me in the vertical parts of the cave which make your breath confort..very bad except if you can stay most often in horizontal position..possiblle but not always easy. More, you absolutely need to stop breathing when you need to have a look upside...to avoid freeflow. The other problem is the déco who need several gas and you use them its not only bailout. So i turn my EDO int mCCR, its great for déco ans WOB (two mushroom valves less) but vertical position is always a problem. So ...dont know, the EDO is bullet proof and very safe concerning flooding ( quite impossible to flood the loop ethen if you loose the mouthpiece for seconds... free flow and thats all). turning it into mCCR is a waiting solution before a Kiss or something like that. EDO O4 and Rebreather 80 are great RB, extremely safe when ( because ) used in SCR mode, but a fine organisation of a deep or long dive need sévéral divers to bring bail out tanks to secure the dive...the DIR system. Not my way but using these ( military like ) organisation, DIR divers done fantastic dives in french cave ( Gournerou, Gournéras ). To end this post I know a French divers using two SCR sidemounted ( Joker and EDO 04) ans according to him WOB is fine.. Well, hope that help and sorry for my poor english ![]() |

However, I only need to remove 1 mushroom valve. Which other one did you remove ?

But not impossible... Of course to turn into mCCR you remove only the one mushroom whitch allow the gaz entering the "small" counterlung ( increasing exhale work ) and when you inhale, the gaz of the small CL go into the water through the exhaust valve ( increasing inhale work ) but when you are in CCR mode ethen the exhaust valve is not used except if your are other filled.using a UV 26, its not a big problem, you "monitor" your bubbles fron time to time, when you are slow. Whe are using a protection all over the EDO witch drive the bubble near your neck most of the time. I probably was the first to close the EDO-04 (i.e. XCR). However, I only need to remove 1 mushroom valve. Which other one did you remove ? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: EDO 04 Breakdown So, in another word, one mushroom valve is removed... The exhaust valve on the bottom of the CL is simply set to closed mode in CCR. It should NOT be removed or sealed off permanently for the same simple reason why the KISS has a loop OPV. BTW, there is no difference in CCR or mCCR modes for this unit as far as the context we are discussing.
