| Re: RECY'01 Tear Down Lou - thanks foe the help! some additional comments regadring the RECY: I had been thinking about getting a rebreather for quite some time. My diving is mostly cave diving down to -80m (so far!) After long consideration I decided to go for a Gas Extender RECY 01 . The reasoning behind it was: -Start of with a “simpler” and “safer” machine (compared to a CCR). In fact the Gas planning is very similar to OC (regarding to gas planning, switching, deco etc..) -considered that it is sufficient for the diving I do now (usually up to 60 - 70 meters) -considered as a good starting point to get into the rebreather world - found a fair deal (second hand unit from someone I knew and trusted). - proven record of these type of rebreathers in cave diving (some nice records set with this type of units) So after 50 hours here are my thoughts:
Bottom line: very happy with the unit but already have started looking for the next step… But have not yet made up my mind between mCCR and e CCR… I still consider that this type of Rebreather (with all the limitations it has) is safer than mCCR and eCCR…To be honest I am quite troubled with the large number of eCCR accidents. What is more disturbing is the lack of concrete evidence regarding the cause of the accidents… |
