David

You've done some good work here, despite some initial flack it has drawn from some who obviously have no in-depth knowlege of SCRs. SCRs are often mis-understood and under-appreciated by many divers who do not have in-depth knowlege of them, or how to use them effectively.

I have spot checked your little Excel Calculator, and found no significant fault to date. I've stashed your little Routine in My Favorite Places to save me work and avoid errors which come with repetitious manual calculations.
Stuart: I agree it should be archived in the Rebreather World Library as a Reference.
Well Done David ....have some green.

A good case can be made that, other factors equal, SCRS are arguably, 'inherently safer and with lower diver task loading' than either mCCRs or eCCRs'. I don't want to re-start that debate in this thread. It gets to be emotional for some It's true that they don't provide the longer durations that the m- and e-CCRs do, but life is an unending series of compromises, and each must make their own choices.

I'll simply point out that historically, and even now, most Navies have typically chosen SCRs, even over eCCRs, for two of their most demanding and stressing tasks: Explosive Ordnance Disposal or 'Clearance' Diving.., and for Deep Saturation Emergency Bailouts. The same is true for Deep Sat Diving Contractors. There's some chance that these organizations might even know what they're doing.

As I'm designing my little RGU 2 mCCR homebuild rig, I'm also designing an SCR variant in paralell. It isn't clear which one I'll get into the water first.

I did a post, on the new Carleton Tech., VIPER SE SCR rig, recently adopted by the US Navy, in another Rebreather World thread on that subject recently. Also, here's the URL to an article, on the Divex SLS Mk IV, that I did in a different Forum some time ago. There's a short video clip on it in my Personal Gallery. Hope that you enjoy it.

Re: Semi Closed Rebreather diving gas calculations.

Hi Dan,

thanks for the support, I have expanded the article in the thread below:

http://www.rebreatherworld.com/semi-...-reposted.html

and looked at trimix [not dived SCR yet] on this one:

http://www.rebreatherworld.com/semi-...r-dolphin.html

I hope to be shallow [20m] trimix divign to check that all works before building up to a 50m dive late this year/early next.
