Looks like you need a hose-trim there, Ken... Hate to see what happens without that hose weight on your left side...

Re: hose weights

Guys...those very, very long hoses were shipped with the earlier CK's. I called them the spaghetti-noodlers. IMO the hoses with the CK's have always been a tad too long, or too short. An 18"/ 19" hose would be just perfect.

Just trim them down before using, simple procedure...

Re: hose weights

I did have those long hoses on my unit when I bought it second hand, but now have the 25" (?) hoses after the originals got damaged. I borrowed a set of the short ones to get through my MOD1, but they left my gums bleeding as they held the mouthpiece in my mouth like a pair of elastic bands.

Interested...how did you ensure an airtight fit on the connector(s)? Two hose clamp job around the corrugation?

Additionally, the 17" hoses with the new QC connectors feel less like a trip to the SM chamber. A few centimeters here and there can make all the difference in the world. It's not perfect, but certainly better.

I had Inspiration hose connectors on all 4 ends so it is simple to trim. BTW, I was also using Ray hose so the ID is larger and hose more stretchy thus easy to have them short.

If you are referring to installing the QC connectors, then yes.

I love to ask new KISS students to install the QC connectors since it looks so simple to do, but not quite so for first-timers.

After the students have torn 1/2 their hair out, then I show them why they pay the big bucks (not compared to Joe's) for the course...

No fair dude Using them AP connectors is way too easy.

As per the KISS QC connectors they require some pre-study and reheasal. I could see some new Kissy students getting weak at the knees before installation.

Remember that Rebreather diving is a thinking sport. Use the right tool for the job and everything is way too easy...

That maxim applies to just about anything in life. I also know that some of the AP style connectors had some early teething issues. It would be interesting to get feedback from early CK users on how they’ve adapted to either the short style hoses, or super longish hoses.

What I’d really like to know is whether there is a hose supplier who could fabricate something in the 18-19 inch range. The right hose length is the first step towards ‘easy’.
