Question regarding Drager Dolphin and Ray

Question regarding Drager Dolphin and Ray.

What is the difference between the 50% Bypass regulator on the Ray form the 50% Bypass regulator for the Dolphin? Am I correct to assume the 50% bypass on the ray works off the same intermediate pressure provided by a standard 1st stage regulator (allowing a 2nd stage reg to function on the same 1st stage), versus the dolphin’s bypass dosage reg’s work off a higher intermediate pressure.

Correct, the Ray 50% bypass works off a 'standard' Drager shark 1st, IP around 10bar. The Dolphin 1st stage provides a higher IP, about 16.5 bar from memory.

The Ray bypass has only one inlet port, with a small orifice drilled into the body of the ADV valve mechanism to leak the required amount of gas into the unit.

The dolphin uses two inlet ports into the bypass, one to the ADV valve mechanism (it looks identical to the Ray part except it doesn't have the drilled hole), the second to the inlet with the orifice.

The "50%" orifice used on the Ray will obviously have a larger diameter to the "50%" used on the Dolphin since they achieve similar flow rates at different IPs.

www.danshop.com has all the schematics available online if you wish to make better sense of my ramblings.
