Especially if you ask her to sew it back up afterwards....... In moments of madness I think about buying my wife a sewing machine (mainly because I am sick of *****ing my fingers when hand stitching webbing and stuff!)![]() Dave Don't know where the ***s come from I only said stitch???

![]() | Re: Draeger Ray weights I am half fearful to do it to my complete Ray, but has anyone gone in and cut out all the foam, perhaps replacing it with simple plastic sheet? I wonder what sort of differece that would make. I'd imagine a pretty big one, as you have the foam across the top, all round the scrubber and in the flap that comes from underneath the tank. I will only do it once I resolve that I will never need to sell the Ray. Hmm, now I think about it, I'll get the scissors out at the weekend! Dave I'd be very interested in the results Dave, don't want to cut up my Ray jacket just yet either, but will consider it next year if I decide to convert my SCR Ray to a bailout Rebreather. Perhaps someone else out there has a well used/abused Ray jacket they will donate for research? ![]() Regards...Paul

![]() | Re: Draeger Ray weights I'm using about 32lbs (14.5kg) in salt water with a 5/7mm semidry and up to 40lbs (18kg) with a neoprene drysuit. Well, I took out the BC bladder and the counterlungs for disinfecting and while I was at it I thought I might take out the foam. I bouyancy checked the jacket minus accessories and it took 8lbs (3.63kg) to give it negative bouyancy. After removing the foam it took 4lbs (1.81kg) to give it negative bouyancy, so when it's all assembled again I can lose 4lbs of lead! which I consider to be a worthwile exercise. Why was the foam fitted in the first place?Interested to know what difference removing the foam has - not sure the wife will be too pleased with me taking the scissors to the Ray though... ![]() Regards...Paul

![]() | Re: Draeger Ray weights Hi, some weeks ago my wife dived the Ray (SCR) in the Mediterranean Sea and a 7mm wet suit with 18kg. If I remember right. I used it once as a CCR. There I took 8kg of lead with my 7mm wet suit. Cheers! Christian |
