Convert Dolphin CE Jacket LP Inflator to Standard Inflator

Does anybody know if there is a way to convert the LP inflator nipple on the Dräger to a standard inflator nipple? I'd like to use it with Dive Alerts & such.

It does look like it is a AP valve inflator. I looked it up, and Buddy was mentioned, which if I recall correctly, is who makes the BC for Dräger. Now I might be able to find an AP adapter, so I can use my current horn, or maybe I'll be lucky and be able to find a AP horn in the U.S. Thanks for the tip!

Here's another angle.......The corrugated hose is the same size, add an Air2 or similar, and you're in business. In fact there's one on fleabay that is a alternate air source, inflator, and signal all in one. I haven't put my hands on one, but they look pretty neat. You could always hijack a standard inflator from a "regular" BC. I, like a lot of people, changed mine to an Air2 and have the original Scubapro inflator in a box somewhere. Maybe you've got a buddy with one laying around you could grab. FD

Re: Convert Dolphin CE Jacket LP Inflator to Standard Inflator

That's what I was thinking...maybe not the airsource, but maybe another standard inflator. I'm sure I can buy one for $30 or $40, but if there was an easy way just to convert the nipple for $10, that would be preferred. I guess there isn't an easy way, so I'll see if I can fit a standard inflator.

Re: Convert Dolphin CE Jacket LP Inflator to Standard Inflator

I ran into the same thing. I used a standard inflator of an old bc prior to swapping to a wing. I just used the whole standard inflator hose assembly by taking the thing apart at the top ( Ie the nut off the top, slip the base out of the old bc by unscrewing it and slipping it out, brought it to the dolphin and removed the OEM assembly out of the dolphin and put the standard into the dolphin ) dropped on a Sherwood shadow plus and horn from the OC days to complete the package.

I just tried just swapping out the inflator portion with a spare from my OMS wing. It actually does fit on the end of their corregated hose, but the way Buddy locks down the hose to the inflator is a bit strange. If you aren't careful, you'll end up with a slow leak around that seal. I may put some sealant around that edge, or I may just end up swapping the whole hose like you mentioned. I orally inflated it before I went to bed last night, and the seal held, so I think I'm good to go. Still, probably safer to get rid of the Buddy inflator all together. I just remember what a pain their inflator is to reconnect at the BC....
