| Born Again Diver! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Drager Ray Overview I have been thinking cheaper than that. a Mcmaster carr orifice to the bottom of the scrubber, suit inflator in place of the front OPV, Bypass modified to just an ADV, then either a couple of cells in the head of the scrubber, or one of Martins sensor housing / elbows for the hose. You could maybe have a dil manual add going into the bottom of the scrubber too, then you could put you sensors where the bypass goes in, but I am not sure if that is really in the gas flow round the loop Just thinking... Added - Just seen something new from Martin Very Special Parts for Rebreathers Now, an extension on the other port, and mount the cylinders down the side of the scrubber using a 160 mm pvc tube ......

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Drager Ray Overview I attached a portion of the Drager Ray manual where it refers to post dive maintenance (see below). Evidently all that is required is disconnecting p-ports, rinsing with hot water and hanging it up to dry. It's not just the cleaning, but keeping an eye on the lungs for signs of damage as well. The Ray as standard is less flexible than the Dolphin, which is less flexible than most of the later SCR units. I've dived my Dolph with a buddy on a Ray to 36m, his pO2 was a little high until we got back to 25m.

![]() | Re: Drager Ray Overview 1. replace the front opv with an drysuit Valve for manual diluent add (~40 Euro) 2. replace the Ray Bypass valve with the Dolphin Bypass sealing insert (~ 35 Euro) 3. o2 inlet in the Bottom of the Scrubber (p-port holder with inflator connection Tecme ~ 40 Euro) 4. CMF Valve ?RG/UF-M? (~70 Euro) 5. 2l O2 Tank (~120 Euro) 6. Inflator Hose (~20 Euro) So you pay for the complete conversion without O2 monitoring !!! only ~ 350 Euro Cheers Carsten Last edited by TigerCD : 8th February 2008 at 09:24. |

| Born Again Diver! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Drager Ray Overview I said 30m just so no one gets upset. Drager has rated it to 40m by putting making the 32% bypass available. Lets just remember its still a little Ray! So if being conservative, I am sure 30m, 90 mins should be Ok. Dave

![]() | Re: Drager Ray Overview Quote: Lets just remember its still a little Ray! So what? This is a mccr with 5l diluent/Bail out !!! How much Bail out has a Dolfin?p>The limit of the Ray is the Scrubber with just 110 minutes...If you will use the CMF of the RG/UF-M the deep limit is 40 meters. | Thom Susko ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Drager Ray Overview Carsten, Thanks for the list... however it can be done cheaper. ![]() 1. Drill a hole in the cap of Ray Dosage unit so you can manual add by pushing through the hole in the cap and against the diaphram. 2. Keep the Ray Dosage unit and solder or weld the hole shut on any of the constant flow orifices. (it's under the o-ring see picture) The demand will continue to work by allowing flow through the end. Additional gas can be plumbed directly into the demand valve body similar to the Dolphin. 4. Constant mass flow valve: McMaster.com - 3820K41 < $15.00 Each Regarding depth limits: Dave Sutton was kind enough to send me this PM: "Hey Thom, I actually really like the Ray, and ought to grab another one. I had one for years that I ran as a CCR using (2) 13's mounted vertically alongside of the scrubber. It was a nice little rig. The scrubber is WAY too small for deep work though... I'd limit it to about 130 feet for that reason alone. I'm sorry I sold mine, it was cool. For travel and recreational play? Just a nice little rig. Dave ." Thom 1. replace the front opv with an drysuit Valve for manual diluent add (~40 Euro) 2. replace the Ray Bypass valve with the Dolphin Bypass sealing insert (~ 35 Euro) 3. o2 inlet in the Bottom of the Scrubber (p-port holder with inflator connection Tecme ~ 40 Euro) 4.
