I have a VR3 with mine, but it's definatly not the cheapest solution out there. It does work very well, and to boot you only have to have one computer/monitor, as opposed to some of the other solutions (TecMe).

You may be able to find an Aladin used somewhere.

Looks like the Shearwater Pursuit will soon be able to be configured as an SCR computer, the following statement came with an email firmware update:

"There are several new features that we are getting a lot of demand for. We are shipping the display and fully unlocked Pursuit, but haven’t finished the OC versions. Another one that is in demand is support for SCR and calibration in air.

We hope to get both of those done in early April."

It will probably be able to use one or 3 cells like the other Pursuits. Martin at Tecme sells a P-port cell holder for the inhale lung or you could get one of his housings.

Keep an eye out in the selling forums. People are constantly selling dive computers. You may not get one with the C9 PIN (02 sensor), but you can always buy the PIN and the sensor separately if need be. DiveRiteExpress.com sells the cable and PIN, along with many others.

Check out the Laguna Research UDC and PO2 monitor unit. I am getting it because on the unit it has 3 k-1 cells, an injection port on the P-connector, its extremely light and compact and has an excellent hardware part. The UDC controller has a field removable (swappable) IC, anodized aluminum casingand a separate fischer connection to dive computer. The stand alone unit will display time, PO2 and fO2.

The coolest thing is the UDC and PO2 monitor is completely modular, you can add a HUD(ILM) and a solenoid controller (CCM) for eCCR/mCCR modes. I am going to get this for my Azimuth in the next two months and i'll make an post when I get it setup.

Re: Other types of sensor to be use with SCR Dolphin0

Like several of the others in this forum, I chose a VR3, with the Drager O2 monitoring kit. As it has already been said, the VR3 is not inexpensive but costs can be controlled somewhat by the configuration you purchase. As well, it is an excellent dive computer that is quite versatile, owing to the fact that it can be upgraded by simply purchasing a PIN to unlock more advanced features.

Objectively, the owner's manual is not the best-organized or most easy-to-follow, but if you take your time and read the material carefully, everything will be fine.

Especially since we are talking about a fairly expensive computer, you must also think about getting the unit serviced, if and when something breaks. Realistic expectations are critical here. Based only on my experience:
  • It will need to be shipped by one of their distrubutors to Delta P in the UK, preferably by a reliable courier service (FedEx/DHL/whomever). My dealer sent it to the distributor. Delta P did not at that time, and probably still does not, deal directly with you the customer.
  • I have heard some less than glowing descriptions of Delta P's customer service, but the one time I needed service, all initial email inquiries were quickly and politely answered.
  • The turnaround time was quoted as being 4-6 weeks. I received my unit back in just under 4 weeks (a nearly unheard-of short time, according to my dealer).
All that being said, I still would highly recommend the VR3, although I personally would not buy a used one.
