Drager Piston vs Diaphram 1st stage

Anyone know when Drager switched form the older piston style to the diaphragm style first stage?

Is there and advantage from one to another?

Thanks all!

Re: Drager Piston vs Diaphram 1st stage

The older design may be the one with the odd size threads for the LP ports that prevents the use of a non-Drager hose.

My [3 years old] Dolphin has ports that are the same size as a normal reg.

On the Dolphin the first stages are sealed as they don't pressure compensate anyway, so I imagine there is no practical difference.
