| SCR Diver Current Rebreather/s: | Hi All, I ordered some components from Martin at TecMe and received them last night. While installing the components, I decided to remove the breathing bags and inspect them. The inhalation bag and scrubber came out easily, however the exhalation bag is connected to the dump valve and the dump valve I could not remove, so I could not remove the exhalation bag. My question (after that background) is what is the trick to removing the dump valve from the Dolphin case? Cheers CES |

| SCR Diver Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Dolphin Maintenance Surely you are removing your bags after every dive for cleaning and sterilisation? If not you need to. I have found in the last two years (my SCR diving experience) that many things about the SCR and about maintenance of the SCR were (inadvertently) left out of my training. The first bit of information that I discovered was the integrated weight pouches. That seams very basic and I was surprised to find the pockets so readily available. I knew the loop needed to be disinfected however I have not been taking the exhale bag out of the case nor disinfecting it. A bit of silicone grease on the rubber collar will help with future assembly/disassembly. Freef, I learn every time I interface with you. Thank you again. |

I don't sterilise my loop unless I have finished diving for a few days as it needs a thorough drying out. I drain the CL's and water trap and the hoses as far as possible and wash the valves and mouthpiece every day though.

| SCR Diver Current Rebreather/s: | [I was the one cleaning my unit in my training and that's how it should be]. I am very thankful that this site is around to supplement the lack of a through training I did receive. I have been in the practice of drying the loop as best as I can, removing the CLs is something I wondered about but did not do. I will now do a much more through job. As far as the mouth piece, it requires a good cleaning after every dive and that has been a practice that I follow.I don't sterilise my loop unless I have finished diving for a few days as it needs a thorough drying out. I drain the CL's and water trap and the hoses as far as possible and wash the valves and mouthpiece every day though. Well, I do have another question that is related. Not to cleaning, but to maintenance. My dump valve turns around 20 degrees. Is that normal? I expected it would turn several times to adjust the dump pressure. If 20 degrees is not normal, can anyone tell me how to remove it from the exhale bag? I have a complete maintenance document, but it does not describe how to remove it from the bag. Thanks again. Still a newbe after two years of Dolphin diving... ![]() |
