Dolphin Half fill adaptor

Hi All,
I'm interested in getting a half fill adaptor for the scrubber on my dolphin but despite phoning and faxing the UK supplier (AP Valves?) I have had no answer.
So... does anyone know if they are available in the UK, what they cost, and where the best place is to buy one?
Cheers,
Smudge

Re: Dolphin Half fill adaptor

Should be Apeks in the UK, Aqualung elsewhere.
AP Valves just makes the BCD for Dräger I believe,
and AP Diving the Inspo and Evo CCRs of course.

If you can't source it in the UK W+S Watersafety in Germany will ship you one.

Re: Dolphin Half fill adaptor

Remember also that the adaptor reduces scrubber life to 60 min not 90, and you will need extra weight as you have a large empty air pocket in the loop that wasn't there before.

I haven't used my one yet [second hand from Narked at 90].

Re: Dolphin Half fill adaptor

Yup, I normally treat the Dolphin scrubber as a 2 hour thing with the extra hour as a backup, kinda rule of thirds for the scrubber so one hour is ok if I'm looking at a single 40 min ish shore dive with some of the OC club members. That's the sort of dive where I grudge wasting a whole fill of sorb but I'm too lazy to drag down my twin tens!
Good point about yet more lead though!

Re: Dolphin Half fill adaptor

Try persuading the club members that they really want to dive in shifts, then the second shift could get in as the first left and you could stay on the bottom.

I ran the Dolphin to 143 minutes using Spherasorb and the colour change didn't go all the way through, and research by Drager certainly shows that 3 hours is safe.

I know what you mean about binning good scrubber though, but it is only a rumour that I sit with a pair of tweasers sorting used colour change sorb from unused .

Why don't you make one? Stainless perforated sheet and a pvc plumbing connector.

Try ringing Apex, you need to speak to Karen.
Alternatively you can get one from here -> W+S Water Safety GmbH - Dräger Kreislauftauchgeräte Ersatzteile

They have a rubber seal like the one you put in after 2/3 filling the scrubber, a metal mesh and a bit of drain pipe.
