![]() | Dolphin sorb fine or course HI ALL I need a little advice, has any one been using the fine grade SOFOLIME in there Dolphin? Have there been any changes in the breathing etc or any other changes? And how long have you been using it? The reason is that in Western Australia the 2-5mm is no easy to get and at a good price but the finer grade is a lot easer to get and I think cheaper. My local dive charter has been very good and has worked hard to keep me going, but to change would make it easer for him and me. Thanks for any advice David |

| Steve Sprague Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Dolphin sorb fine or course This is not based on personal experience, but on posts from other dolphin divers on this forum. With the finer grade people report a higher WOB. The coarse stuff is better. If you do a search in this forum you will find recommendations. ------ This is from an old OMS catalog: Sofnolime, 8-12 mesh / 1.0 - 2.5mm particle diameter, 44lb keg $225.73 Sofnolime, 4-8 mesh / 2.0 - 5.0 mm particle diameter, 44lb keg $193.48 At least the 4-8 is cheaper!

![]() | Re: Dolphin sorb fine or course HI Steve Thanks for the reply and yes I have spoken to one person here that has used the fine grade and he did say that his WOB was a little harder but not much. I just wanted to no if any one here had used the fine. And as for cost I can get the fine cheaper here? Thanks for the reply. David |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Dolphin sorb fine or course At the depths the standard Dolph is used at I have found no difference in WOB between Drager Divesorb, 2-5mm or 1-2.5mm grade. Divesorb is easier to pack than 1-2.5, which needs a bit longer knocking flat time, and also seems better than 2-5mm in longevity. When I have used 2-5mm the hot spot is more diffuse and seems to travel faster. In the UK Divesorb is £110+ is per 20kg, whereas I can get Molecular Products stuff at around the £60 mark for the same amount. The drawback of 1-2.5mm is that the gratings in the Dolph aren't fine enough to guarentee that you won't get any drop through, but I have not had any get further that sitting in the bottom of the water trap, and then it is only one or two grains.

The "book" has dropped the duration from 3 to 2 hours. The attached PDF is from the tests that Drager did usign Dragersorb.
