Question for the experts here

Seems everyone at the dive shops around here is an expert on rebreathers but no one dives one! I've asked the same question and got lots of different answers...the question is this:

What is the best way to store my Oxy2 unit during the season (fresh battery and two new O2 censors)? Some say put it an air-tight container and others say just do nothing...

I'm a little confused here...

Safe diving all!!

There is nothing wrong putting it in a plastic bag or container.. I wouldn't keep it airtight since it take a while for sensors to "wake up" and become stable. if they have beenexposed to low oxygen levels for an extended period of time. Most people usually just keep their sensors hooked into their rebreathers.. On RBS where I can remove the sensor attachment I just put the assemply in a plastic bin or tray to protect it (not airtight)

the key thing is to avoid temperature extremes and if left exposed to air it should not be in too dry (like an extended time in an air conditioned room) an enviromet since it will reduce the overall life of the cell..

forget about trying to extend a cells life although a sealed bag may help an oxygen meter it doesnt help Rebreather divers since the cells become non linear (at the higher end) much befor ethey could still show 100%..

Just change the cell at least 1 time a year and you will reduce your risk (you still have to evaaluate the cells erformance)..
