| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | closing the dive sorb right???? i'm a PADI msdt who learned to dive drager dolphin rebreather shortly, and dived with the unit few times, i'm happy about my knoledge and skills with the unit, i discovered in my last dive that after openning the unit for cleanning that a small amount of the sofno lime was spilled out to the good air small bag!!! actually i was lucky it didnt get through the house to the mouth peice, but i noticed when i open the cansister that the rubber sealing the powder is moved and made the lime come out. i normally fill it to the level of the bottom o-ring in the shaft!!! is that right. i also belive that i pack it well!!! in my analyzing it seems to me that i filled the cansister less that i should which makes the spring press in the powder making the rubber moving. is there and other reason to have this happen, and having the powder with out water would it be danger as the costic cocktail thanks in advance and have a safe diving ![]()

| Re: closing the dive sorb right???? Hi, i'm not an expert but i believe you have to fill the scrubber to the upper o-ring. You also have to make sure to settle the lime several times when filling with kind of beating the scrubber sideways. Another thing is that some kind of broken up lime-pieces and lime-dust is collecting at the bottom of an almost empty lime-container. Don't use that stuff, either throw it away or filter the remaining last bit of lime before using it. Make sure to use the right grain-size recommended for Draeger as to small grains can pass pass thru the scrubber-filter. |

| Re: closing the dive sorb right???? The manual says to fill to above the lower O ring and below the top one. I have had a gob full of dust from a scrubber and I still don't know why. Did you travel far with the scrubber packed? if it gets shaken around it can cause problems if there is a bit of dust in the kitty litter. I use 1-2mm 797 with no problems, half the price of the Drager stuff too.
