![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | max absorbing capacity of sorb hallo, can anyone point me to data that gives the max CO2 absorbtion of different brands of sorb?? meaning chemically sorb X can absorb Y liters of CO2 / kg until it is saturated for 100% would do the tests myself, but if data would be available.. regards and thanks paul

This is perhaps too simplified but I did the following more or less faulty assumptions: Only one reaction considered, Ca(OH)2 + CO2 -> CaCO3 + H2O Mw of Ca(OH)2 : 74 g/mol I assume that 1 kg of sorb holds about 800 gram of Ca(OH)2 Don't know how good that guess is. There is quite alot of water in the sorb and usually a few percent of strong base. One mole of Ca(OH)2 removes one mole of CO2 So 800 grams can remove: 800/74 = 10.81 moles of CO2 One mole of an ideal gas has a volume of about 24 liters. So if all the Ca(OH)2 in the 800 grams reacts it can theoretically remove about 10.81 x 24 = 259 liters of CO2 Take it for what it is, a very quick and dirty estimate. As a sidenot: One would also get alot of heat and 10.81 moles of water, that is about 195 gram (in the form of vapour, liquid and adsorbed in the sorb).
