| Traveling with Sofnolime... help! Any body know where I can get material safety sheets/specs on Sofnolime? Because of the HIGH cost in importing Sofnolime to Peru through normal chanels, I am having friends bring down what they can when they can. I would like to send them the data / safety sheets to go with the product. Just in case anyone asks. Can anyone help me? Cheers Nick __________________________________________________ _ Lima, Peru

| have you freinds package it in plactics bags taped up for added security, yeh i know it looks like the stereo typical package of "drugs" but so far i havent ever had a problem transporting it this way, even when inspected by customs. and they pack eaiser than drums. i would love to see a customs officer rub it on there gums or chop one out! |

| Hello Nick, I have traveled many times with both Sodasorb and Sofnolime. I usually don't have a problem. In fact the only time I did, it was Sofno and it was due to that dam 'Corrosive' warning sticker on the side (AA batteries are corrosive if they get wet...) Take it off or cover it up and you should be fine. Also, put a copy of the MDSS in the luggage and highlite the part about it being safe for air transport.-Andy |

| Thanks for th advice Andy. The slow but continuous transport of Sofnolime via friends to South America (Peru) starts tomorrow! I have 4 tubs of it here already but by the time I had paid off everyone cut the price on those tubs had more then doubled!!! I will be a carrier of the stuff in the future. Think I may trade accomodations in Peru for import of Sofnolime... for those interested!!! Cheers Nick

| So much more to learn Current Rebreather/s: | A few tips: 1. Attached is a letter from Molecular Products that says Sofnolime is safe to transport and not subject to restrictions. Print it, and take it with you whenever you travel. 2. On Customs, customs have nothing to do with safety, except importing a dangerous product is an excuse for Third World countries to rip you off. If you go to places like this, and have not got a "relationship" with a Customs Officer there, better to peel off the labels, scan them, edit in Photoshop or GIMP so when you print them out they look the same but says it is just chalk. 3. Also, make yourself a receipt for a rebreather showing it is really cheap. Have your friend sell it to you for $500. 4. O2 cylinders are a real pain. O2 cylinders are banned from flights by a lot of airlines. Take the O2 label off. Mark it "Breathing Gas, 10m max depth". A cylinder of mine with the entire valve removed was pulled off the plane by US Air, and another by the "World´s Worst Airline" (BA: lost my baggage 19 times in 21 trips). Instead of "Oxygen Clean" label on it, just print "Completely Clean and Safe". Don´t use an inkjet printer: the ink runs, which is a giveaway. 5. Take the time to prep properly - it saves time later. I travel 20 times a year. A lot to countries who have corrupt customs, and a lot to countries where customs are a pain in the behind: two ends of the spectrum. Spending an hour after you get your rebreather making it suitable for shipment, can save you days trying to get an O2 cylinder or lime in some far off location. Cheers, Alex |

| These are great tips. I also had a neoprene "sock" made for my Meg. I kick it arround frequently to make it look old! What's in the sock gets protected, but for customs sake it looks cheep. I'm still working on a plan to make the head look less fancy. Now that I am in country I just declare it when I leave to be able to return without paying taxes. Cheers Nick
