I dive my meg for 4 hrs in mid 40s. I never go below 200ft when there is 2 hrs on the scrubber. I use 4-8 sofnolime. The only timeI ever got close to breakthrough (that I know of) was after 4 hrs on medical sorb. Had a fully purple canister. I was shallow (50-60ft) and felt I was getting winded rather easily so I thumbed the dive. No other symptoms of hypercapnia but I checked the scubber indicator upon exit. Thanks

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Meg Scrubber Life. I've done 4 hours in 72 degree water with 8 - 12 Slime. I've been told by others far more experienced then I am that 5 hours wouldn't be out of the question in the very warm South Florida waters.

With the clear plexigrass sides to the standard Meg scrubber you can see very clearly how much of the scrubber has been used. Recently, I've been going away for weekends with 2.5 litre tanks and one shot of sorb. With the fairly sawtooth profiles I've had to make that O2 has been the limiting factor. After 5 one-hour dives the O2 is pretty much out but less than 20% of the scrubber has changed colour. The water temperature drops to 16 degrees C below about 30m or so, but is 20 degrees at deco depths. IF I trusted the colour change on the sorb, doubtless I could squeeze a few more hours out of the sorb. The trouble, as I see it, with hypercapnia is that you may get zero advance warning, and the effect is like having your batteries pulled out: you suddenly become incapable of self-rescue. 'Too cheap to live' would be a pretty sad epitaph: EVEN MY WIFE would agree my life is worth more than a fill of sorb! Don't screw with it: it's not worth it! |

![]() | Hi all, here in northeast of Brazil the water is 26/27o C, and I use Atrasorb. This sorb is made in Brazil and I have only few reports about scrubber duration with this type of sorb.My longest dive with Atrasorb and Meg axial scrubber was an 186 minutes dive (3 hours and six minutes) in Cascos coral reef (21 meters), but I have puted 5 hours in my scrubber in multiple shalow water dives.cheers,
