LAR V canister breakdown

I was putting together my LAR V. The scrubber stayed in the canister from the last go around 2 months ago during a 10 minute spin. During my breathing test I noticed the gas inside the loop tasted of solvent. I checked my O2 supply fine. No weird smells, or taste. I then opened the canister and was greeted with a strong plastic, resin odor.

What's interesting is that the Grace Sodasorb had reacted with the LAR V canister? Crap. So I wash the the canister with water and then I see bubbling on the walls of the canister - terrific! Now I am starting to think the fiberglass resin is breaking down. Heck, the thing is probably 20 years +.

Anyway, I've attached a pic. for your amusement and warning. If you've had anything similar happen I'd love to know.

Cough. Hack.

Ken
