| LAR Addict | Project Aquazepp II Hi folks, my Aquazepp upgrade is nearly complete! Only waiting for the belt for the beltdrive and then the final assembly will be completed! New 6 blade prop! New prop shaft and internal belt drive! New gear ratio 1:3 instead of 1:5 PWM electronicīs to drive the motor in any rpm! Controlled via the old gear changing (motor adjust) knob! 12v/24v lever now acting as main switch to break circuit in case of failure! First reed switch to start with pwm control, second reed switch to switch direct 24v voltīs to motor in case of electronics failure! 2 12V 28ah Sealed lead gel batts. Zepp running on only 24V now, just control speed via PWM! Test drive maybe this weekend! ![]() All the modīs require huge work in machining the partīs, no changes to the zepp, can be rebuild to original specīs at any time! |

| LAR Addict | Re: Project Aquazepp II You know, itīs "made in germany" so no luck needed... (only joking) ![]() Iīm realy excited on how it behaves in the water, hope today the timing belt will arrive so I can finish the drive chain and see how it runīs. The good thing is that you can change the gear on the prop shaft very easy so you can adjust the prop speed to the best results! Weīll see how it runs, iIīll also make a in water thrust measurement to see what it can push. |

| Re: Project Aquazepp II Belt drive is a nice upgrade, should run much quieter, although I've always liked the distinctive sound of a Aquazepp screaming past me in the cave! | LAR Addict | Re: Project Aquazepp II All is done now, the zepp is running, and with the new bearings i installed today it became even more silent! The belt drive realy makes a great difference! Also itīs nice to have the possibility to adjust the gear ratio! So, I hope I can test it during the weekend and make some measurements of speed and thrust! At least it looks pretty cool now with the new prop ![]() |

| LAR Addict | Re: Project Aquazepp II I tried to upload a vid of the setup on youtube, feel free to check it out! The clicking/rattling sound comes from the broken upper bearing, those bearings were only used as spacers during the buildup, unfortunately I did not make a vid today, but Iīll sure make so UW footage of it in action, so stay tuned... ![]() Also the belt generates noise when slowing down, this is due to the prop driving the motor instead of the motor driving the prop, in water this noise will dissappear as there the prop will slow down very fast once the control is turned down. |
